USED GLASSES COLLECTING + RECYCLING
Since the GLOBAL re-VISION Network's start in 2001, the vast majority of our used eyeglasses were collected and given to us by many wonderful Lions Clubs throughout Maryland. *

Sorting Glasses
In 2002, we began working with the SUCCESS Program - a joband life skills training program for mentally and physically impaired18 to 21 year old young people. SUCCESS is a 3 year-long program sponsored by the Frederick County Maryland Board of Education.

Sorting Glasses
We meet and work with the students several days each month to sort, separate and pack the used eyeglasses. Students only keep complete, re-usable pairs of eyeglasses and dispose of everything else. They separate clear lens eyeglasses from Sunglasses. The glasses are then counted and put into uniform sized boxes for shipping.

After the eyeglasses are boxed, the boxes are accumulated and warehoused by the D. M. Bowman Trucking Company in Hagerstown, Maryland.When sufficient quantities are ready to ship to a clinic, they are weighed and trucked to a port city, containerized, then shipped.

In recognition of the thousands of hours of community service work processing and packing the glasses that has been performed by the SUCCESS students, Rotary Clubs International recognized them as a Rotaract Club. Initially sponsored by the Rotary Club of Rockville, Maryland, they are now sponsored by the Carroll Creek Rotary Club of Frederick, Maryland.

Rotaract is a community service Organization for 18 to 30 year old young people. This SUCCESS Rotaract group is believed to be the world's only special needs Rotaract Club.

(www.NewEyesForTheNeedy.org).Their contribution(s) help us increase our inventories even faster and make supplying new clinics so much easier. These glasses are pre-sorted and go directly into our warehouse for distribution.
